Chocolate Earthquake Cake
Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix well.
- In a separate mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and unsalted butter until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and mix well.
- Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or on the stovetop, and add to the cream cheese mixture. Stir until well combined.
- Pour the chocolate cake batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the top of the cake batter.
- Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the cream cheese mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
