Chinese Pepper Steak


Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 onion, sliced into strips
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and beef broth. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over high heat. Add the sliced flank steak and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the sliced bell peppers and onion to the skillet and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the vegetables are slightly softened.
  4. Pour the sauce over the steak and vegetables and stir to combine. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce has thickened and the steak is cooked through.
  5. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
